THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Montgomery County Association of Business Women (MCABW) will host their monthly mixer from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 at GenuWine Tasting Room located at 6503 FM 1488 Ste 401 in Magnolia. Announcements and door prizes will start at 6 p.m.

GenuWine Tasting Room is Magnolia's first retail wine and gift shop. More than 75 percent of the wines offered at the shop are specialty, boutique bottles that are hard to find at other stores. GenuWine offers weekly wine tasting events. The tasting room is also open for a glass of wine, bite to eat and live music throughout the week.

The South Montgomery County YMCA, along with other 31 YMCAs from the greater Houston area will be opening its doors for free for seniors next September 12. This Open House will give seniors the chance to get to know what YMCA has to offer, whether exercise classes, social gatherings, volunteering opportunities or field trips. In addition, there will be community partners offering information about senior-related services.

According to the Houston Association of REALTORS Multiple Listing Service, 6,681 properties changed hands in April a 4.7 percent increase over April 2007. Total sales equaled nearly $1.2 billion a 9.4 percent increase over last April. Year-to-date sales are about 4.2 percent over 2004's pace, according to the MLS.

Surprisingly, the MLS numbers also reveal an inventory-rich market with approximately 44,140 properties available for sale at the end of April. This inventory represents an 8 percent increase compared to last year at the same time. Like many other areas of the country, Houston's median home prices also are climbing.
