On March 28, 2008 in San Angelo, Texas, Five awards were presented to members of The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department. These awards were presented at the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) Annual Awards Banquet.

The Gold Medal Award was won by The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department for departments serving populations of 50,000 to 100,000. Excellence in recreation and park management is awarded with this medal. The Parks and Recreation Department has earned this Gold Award for the second time, the first time was in 2002.

THE WOODLANDS, TX - Town Green Park and The Woodlands Waterway once again will be the scene for ghosts and goblins at the Fourth Annual Trick or Treat Trail in The Woodlands from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 27.

Produced by The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Trick or Treat Trail brings out families for trick-or-treating, vendor booths, children's activities, costume contests, games and more. Festivities will be in Town Green Park, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive, and along The Woodlands Waterway.

John Cooper School art students submitted work for the third consecutive year to the 8th Annual Culture Shapers Visual Arts Competition. Eight Cooper students were awarded top honors with senior Delphine Thierry earning the first place grand prize in the mixed media category and an award of $5,000 for her work titled Rough Draft.

Fellow senior Madeline Leary took second place and was awarded $2,500 in the same category for Vibrance. Also in mixed media, senior Sarah Kent took fifth place and $500 for Quilted Fish and senior Chelsea Lashier placed 10th for My Senior Year, taking home $250. Three students also earned honorable mentions. Cooper's visual arts faculty member Bob Mosier was given the Teacher of the Year Award.
