THE WOODLANDS, TX- BAM! (Because Art Matters), the community and educational outreach arm of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council (WWAC), sponsored a Fast Draw Contest in October for approximately 50 seventh and eighth grade students from York, Irons, Knox and McCullough junior high schools and The John Cooper Middle School.

"Students were provided with 11x14 paper, lead pencils, sharpeners and erasers and were given 50 minutes to draw a still life, which in this case was a BAM! can that contained art supplies,"" explained WWAC board member Sonya Hillman who co-chaired the September 29 event with fellow board member Cindy Moss. Woodlands Church Golf Classic

Voted a "Must Play"" by Golf Magazine and Ranked #3 ""Best New Course in Houston,"" by the Houston Chronicle the Woodforest Golf Club at Fish Creek will host The Woodlands Church Golf Classic, on May 8, 2009.

The cost is $125 per player, proceeds will go to the Student Ministry Missions.

A new sculpture set has become The Woodlands # 51st piece of sculpture. This, as part of a continued effort from The Woodlands to enhance the natural beauty of the area and offer its residents aesthetic corridors throughout the town which dates back to 1974, when the developers purchased "The Family"".

The Woodlands' Passage was crafted by Otto Rigan a sculptor and architectural glass craftsman from Arizona.

You may admire this 5 piece monumental work at Woodlands Parkway, on Grogan's Mill Road.

Created in a mixed media technique, the sculpture pieces were created with Texas limestone and laminate mirrored glass. Another piece by the same artist stands on 21 Waterway Avenue, in The Woodlands Town Center, since 2006.
