On September 9, there was a groundbreaking held for the new St. Luke's The Woodlands Lakeside Hospital at the future site. It is locate at 17500 St. Luke's Way, southwest of St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital Medical Arts Building II.

This new site will be dedicated to provide comprehensive heart and orthopedic care. It will feature 77,830 square feet and will include 30 patients beds, 13 pre-op/post-op rooms, four operating rooms with capacity for expansion, two cath labs, and diagnostic imaging including MRI, CT and Nuclear Medicine. In-patient/out-patient procedures will also be performed here.

Several community leaders and dignitaries attended as well as St. Luke's executives, board members, physicians and staff.

The Woodlands was recently named the #1 City on the Rise in Texas by NerdWallet, an impartial data collection organization that provides transparent information for making large financial decisions. In an article published March 17, The Woodlands came in first place out of the 10 other growth cities in Texas, based on population, income and employment growth.

People say you can get anything at Wal-Mart, and for one local bank, that includes real estate. Woodforest National Bank plans to expand its operation center to the site Wal-Mart is vacating on Sawdust Road.

The property, located at 610 Sawdust Road, has more than 100,000 square feet and includes ample parking, making it a prime location for Woodforest, said the bank's Vice Chairman Michael Richmond. "The building fit our need,"" Richmond said. ""We would never have bought it if it didn't meet those requirements."" Richmond said the operation center is the backbone of the company. The workplace, which will be remodeled when Woodforest moves in, will include the bank's call-in customer service center and loan and deposit operation office.
