The Woodlands was recently named the #1 City on the Rise in Texas by NerdWallet, an impartial data collection organization that provides transparent information for making large financial decisions. In an article published March 17, The Woodlands came in first place out of the 10 other growth cities in Texas, based on population, income and employment growth.
?The results of this study were based on sound, qualitative data,? said Maggie Clark, who worked with her partner on the research, then wrote their findings which can be viewed at Cities on the Rise in Texas. ?Our findings were based on good, solid numbers. The data collection comes from authoritative sources like the Dallas Federal Reserve and the U.S. Census Bureau. NerdWallet compiles the data so that people can make informed decisions. Clark cited the growth of the employment population as being especially significant. ?It grew from 28,540 in 2009 to 46,785 in 2012. That?'s amazing,? Clark said.
The ?Texxon? effect, with ExxonMobil relocating to the area, is a major contributing factor to the job growth, which has spawned growth in every other facet of life in The Woodlands community: retail, entertainment, education and demanded infrastructure upgrades.?
