It has been announced this week the opening date for one of the most awaited chains in The Woodlands, Texas: Whole Food Market. One of the nation’s top food supermarket chain which Woodlands residents have been eagerly awaiting for months, and which will be Houston’s 10th overall location, will open on March 18th.
This new store will span 40,000 square feet and will be located in the new residential and commercial complex under development in The Woodlands: Hughes Landing. The address is 1925 Hughes Landing Boulevard.
Whole Foods Market in The Woodlands is just one of the 32 grocery stores that are planned to open in 2015, according to a study by commercial real estate firm Wulfe & Co. Grocery Stores account for most of the 3.71 million square feet of new retail space that is expected to open within the Houston metro area in 2015.
Whole Foods, which employs nearly 1,600 in the Houston area, was named one of the Houston Chronicle Top Workplaces among large employers again last year. The firm's expansion outside of its Austin headquarters began in Houston in 1984. Last year, Whole Foods opened a location with a brewpub inside the store in BLVD Place near the Galleria, right in downtown Houston.
This new supermarket is just one piece of the 66-acre Hughes Landing development, which will include 11 office building, 800 multi-family residences, restaurants, a wide variety of entertainment option, a hotel and a fitness center.
