The Woodlands, Texas is getting ready to receive two new hotels this 2016. Embassy Suites in Hughes Landing actually opened its doors on December 30 and now is ready to receive guests throughout the year. The 250-room hotel started taking reservations in late November for rooms, while reservations for group meetings and more will start next month.
Embassy Suites in The Woodlands looks to attract both people traveling for business and leisure travelers. The only hotel in Hughes Landing, Embassy Suites is located close to the Hughes Landing retail center, where the area’s first Whole Foods can be found, as well as several small businesses and Restaurant Row, where you can find a great dining offer, with upscale restaurants such as Del Frisco’s Grille, Local Pour and Fogo de Chao.Â
The other hotel that will soon open its doors in the area is The Westin The Woodlands, why will be located in Town Center, overlooking Waterway Square. This 12-story hotel will feature 302 rooms and it is expected to open in mid-February. However, the hotel has been accepting reservations ever since April of last year.
It is expected that The Woodlands Township will bring $9.6 million in hotel occupancy taxes for the 2016 fiscal year, a $2.4 million increase over the 2015 budget. This increase is thanks to the opening of The Westin and Embassy Suites in The Woodlands. With the opening of these two hotels the number of hotel rooms in The Woodlands will increase to 2,253, distributed across 14 hotels. The tax rate of the township is 15 percent. This tax is expected to account for 7 percent of its total revenues.
