THE WOODLANDS, TX - Looking for some creative activities for your child during the summer? Have a child that loves to sing or perform or a child that needs help coming out of their shell? Check out The Woodlands performing arts summer workshops available at the Shadowbend YMCA.

The South Montgomery County YMCA will be offering weekly Performing Arts Workshops during the summer, for students in grades K – 12. Starting June 4th, the weekly class meets Monday – Friday, 1:30 – 4:30pm. Students will study and perform age-appropriate dramatic and musical selections from everything to Grease, High School Musicals, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Beach Boys and more. Each weekly workshop focuses on a new production. A live performance is scheduled for parents and guests on Friday following each session. The instructor and program creator, Susie Rogers, is YMCA Arts and Humanities and National Dance Institute Certified as well as Disney trained.

The Woodlands performing arts summer workshops is all about teaching your child not directing. Musical Theater/Performing Arts is a program designed to bring out a child's creative personality in a team environment. All students are involved in dancing, singing, acting, stage construction, team work and freedom to be yourself. If your child dances, sings and enjoys entertaining the family then this program is for him/her!

Many of the students who got their start in the YMCA Performing Arts program have chosen to major in Musical Theatre at college and continue pursuing their dreams as a performer.

In additional to The Woodlands performing arts summer workshops, the YMCA will also be offering ballet this summer for ages 2 – 8. Ballet sessions begin June 11th.

To register please stop by the South Montgomery County YMCAs located at 6145 Shadowbend Place, 8100 Ashlane Way or 6464 Creekside Forest Drive all in The Woodlands.
