The Woodlands Wildflower Festival is almost ready to bloom.
This annual tradition is set from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Cochran's Crossing Shopping Center located at 4747 Research Forest Drive in The Woodlands. The Woodlands Wildflower Festival has been held for over 20 years. People attending The Woodlands Wildflower Festival will enjoy over 20 varieties of free wildflower seeds and nature-related exhibitor booths. A free petting zoo, pony rides, caricature sketch and balloon artists and face painting add to the excitement at the Festival.

Loveable mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone will also be present, according to a press release by The Woodlands Development Company. Puffy Pine Cone will make a special guest appearance from 11 a.m.-noon and pose for free photographs with children, The Woodlands Development Company Marketing Manager Lorrie Parise said. "Children, and adults alike, recognize and love Puffy Pine Cone and greet him with hugs,"" she said. ""At The Woodlands Development Company's booth, free Puffy plates and cereal bowls will be distributed while supplies last."" Over 30 exhibitors will participate in the event, Parise said.

""The Pressed Flower Patch, who has participated in The Woodlands Wildflower Festival for numerous years, will be there with specialty pressed flower gift items while another long-time participant of the Wildflower Festival, The Woodlands Garden Club, will sell native plants,"" she said. ""The Woodlands Development Company will also continue its tradition of distributing free Texas bluebonnet seeds."" The Community Associations of The Woodlands, one of the presenting sponsors, will provide information on the environment as well as distribute free wildflower seeds, Parise said.

""The Brickman Group, Ltd., a participating sponsor, will show-off its wildflower seeder and answer questions on planting wildflower seeds,"" she said. ""Butterfly Enthusiasts of Southeast Texas will also have an exhibitor booth and will present informative information on butterflies.""
Over 60,000 wildflower seed packets will be distributed free at this year's Wildflower Festival, Parise said. The official poster and tee shirt will be on sale at The Woodlands Wildflower Festival, benefiting The Woodlands Lions Club. The merchants of Cochran's Crossing Shopping Center, the Community Associations of The Woodlands and The Woodlands Development Company are presenting sponsors for The Woodlands Wildflower Festival.
