THE WOODLANDS, TX - Officials with The Woodlands Waterway Marriott will launch a $1.5 million renovation of the facility's patio, lobby and bar area this summer. Fred Domenick, general manager of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, said while the hotel is only 10 years old, it is critical to stay up to date with the ""latest and greatest"" amenities.

The Woodlands Waterway Marriott opened in December 2002 and features 12 floors with 336 rooms, including seven suites. The conference center has 27 meeting rooms spanning 70,000 square feet. According to Domenick, changes to the hotel's patio are first on tap and will begin in June and be finished by June 22.

Following the completion of the patio, work will begin on the hotel lobby and the hotel's Acqua Bar in July. The work is expected to be completed by Aug. 22. Despite the construction, Domenick said guests won't be affected.

He said there will be a temporary bar set up while the Acqua Bar is under construction. The Woodlands Waterway Marriott renovation of $6.2 million was completed in January 2011. During the project, the hotel rolled out new furnishings, carpet and colors to guest rooms and the center's meeting space.
