Newsweek Magazine named The Woodlands High School as one of the top 500 public high schools in the U.S. These schools were chosen on several different parameters and were ranked according to a ratio designed by Jay Matthews who took the number of Advanced Placement (AP) Tests, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge Tests taken by all students in 2007 and divided that number by the number of graduating seniors.

There are currently two high school campuses in The Woodlands, Texas which serve 3,542 students, and a ninth grade campus and another housing grades 10 - 12. Newsweek Magazine has also made TWHS a top High School in other years such as 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

There are great programs offered in The Woodlands High School and over 130 electives to choose from and over 80 different clubs and organizations. There is also a strong athletic program that offers participation in 15 different sports where students have won area, regional and state championships.

Students in The Woodlands High School also excel in fine arts programs which include: band, drama, choir and visual arts.
