The 36th annual Arbor Day Celebration is set for Saturday, January 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the award-winning Rob Fleming Park in The Woodlands' Village of Creekside Park in The Woodlands, Tx, according to Susan Vreeland-Wendt, director of marketing for The Woodlands Development Company.

Mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone, is scheduled to celebrate his birthday at this event along with the first annual ""I Love Puffy"" Day as well.

Interpret your favorite pine cone's outfit for his 6th birthday and receive a free sandwich, chips and a drink at the event.

For the Arbor Day celebration, an estimated 31,000 tree seedlings in eight different varieties are scheduled to be distributed free, continuing a 36-year tradition that started in 1977.

Vreeland-Wendt stated, ""Through the years, the developer and sponsors have given away approximately 938,000 tree seedlings to help perpetuate the forested environment at this traditional Arbor Day celebration. We invite residents of the community to come out and enjoy the Arbor Day festivities and receive new tree seedlings.""

This free celebration is sponsored by The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Woodlands Development Company and The Brickman Group, Ltd.

Puffy's birthday celebration is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. with mascot friends including Clutch from the Houston Rockets.

Children are scheduled to enjoy free birthday cupcakes and cake at the birthday party.

The cake is sponsored by H-E-B The Woodlands Market along with free fruit and donuts at 10:00 a.m.
