Joining Keep America Beautiful and other communities across the country in the Great American Cleanup, The Woodlands, Tx is scheduled to target litter on pathways, along waterways and in greenbelts at the Earth Day GreenUp scheduled for Saturday, April 16.

In 2010, almost four million volunteers in over 33,000 communities in the U.S. took part in the cleanup effort that collected 76 million pounds of litter and debris.

For the first time this year, The Woodlands is scheduled to participate in the national stewardship project.

Service clubs, neighborhoods, scouts and individuals are signing up to take part in the cleanup.

Kathie Herrick, adopt-a-path coordinator for The Woodlands Township, stated ""Areas in the community have been identified for targeted litter removal. The GreenUp is an opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors, enjoy the outdoors and take ownership of their space.""

Registration is welcome, but volunteers can register on the day of the event at any of the eight parks listed below:

- Alden Bridge: Alden Bridge Park, located at 7725 Alden Bridge Drive
- Cochran's Crossing: Shadowbend Park, located at 4192 Lake Woodlands Drive
- College Park: Harper's Landing Park, located at 2 N. Blair Bridge
- Creekside Park: Rob Fleming Park, located at 6055 Creekside Forest Drive
- Grogan's Mill: Tamarac Park, located at 1300 N. Millbend Drive
- Indian Springs: Falconwing Park, located at 5610 Rush Haven Drive
- Panther Creek: Ridgewood Park, located at 4192 Interfaith Way
- Sterling Ridge: Cranebrook Park, located at 11800 Cranebrook Drive
