Showing a possible indication of a desire to claim democracy, 4,070 people cast ballots in early voting at the South County Community Building, located at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands.
Montgomery County Elections Administrator Carol Gaultney said most of those voters were registered to vote in the election that will determine whether or not there will be a new form of governance in The Woodlands.
Early voting continues Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The general election takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6.
In addition to three propositions that must be passed by voters in The Woodlands to ratify a non-annexation agreement between The Woodlands and Houston, several statewide constitutional amendments are also up for approval. Gaultney stated by e-mail that almost all of The Woodlands early voters were eligible to vote in the Town Center Improvement District election that will determine if The Woodlands will have a new form of governance. Early voting took place at Elections Central, located at 9159 FM 1484 in Conroe, and locations in Willis, Magnolia, The Woodlands, New Caney and Montgomery.
