On October 30, 2008 a ceremony took place marking the grand opening of The Woodlands Emergency Training Center. This center is a 20,000 square foot facility that has met the development and preparedness needs in all areas of emergency management and response. The Woodlands Emergency Training Center will provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplined and coordinated approach in order to offer superior service for "all risk hazards"".

This new emergency center in The Woodlands, Texas is located off I-45 between FM 1488 and SH 242(College Park Drive). This center will bring people from around the country to study and learn aspects of emergency management. The Lone Star College will also begin to offer credit courses and continuing education in fire sciences and public safety areas starting January 2009.
