THE WOODLANDS, TX - The holiday season is beginning – and The Woodlands Children's Museum has several events scheduled to explore various cultural celebrations. The calendar is also full of plenty of fun options for educational fun – from permanent exhibits to special performers.

Here are a few of the November activities at The Woodlands Children's Museum:

Mad Science offers hands-on experiments. No reservations are necessary for this on-going floor activity. Come to the museum from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Monday, Nov. 25.

Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that focuses on gathering of family and friends to remember those who have passed away. The museum will celebrate the holiday with a special art project in the Muse during regular hours on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Diawali is the Indian Festival of Lights usually practiced by decorating homes with bright, colorful lamps and candles. Visit the museum during regular hours on Sunday, Nov. 3 for a unique art project in honor of Diwali.

The Boogie Bash is for young toddlers to children age 5. It encourages cooperation, promotes social interaction, helps develop a sense of rhythm and strengthens listening skills. Stop by at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays – Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26 -- to get down and boogie.

Lego Time encourages creative play with everyone's favorite building blocks. Come to the museum from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Friday, Nov. 15, Saturday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 29.

Crazy about Critters is a popular time for children to meet new animal friends and learn about their natural habitats. Visit the museum at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Shadow Puppet Theatre brings stories to life with the help of handmade shadow puppets. Shows are planned at 11 a.m. on each Thursday morning, Nov. 7, 14 and 21.

Story Book Theatre by Junior League offers visitors an adventure in literature and related activities. Readings are planned for 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Friday of the month, Nov. 8 and 22.

Face Painting is always a favorite with museum guests. Stop by from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 for some colorful fun.

For Veteran's Day, the museum is offering free admission to all veterans who attend with a child. Come during regular hours with your favorite veteran on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Read and Build is a new activity at the museum. Join us during our short story time and building with Lego® Duplo® blocks and accessories at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Potteryland Studio will be at the museum this month for creative play with clay. The cost to particpate is $10 plus the price of admission. Visit at 10:30 to noon on Tuesday Nov. 12 and 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Falltivities! These half-day and full-day workshops for Thanksgiving are designed to delight young minds with the spirit of fall. Children may try printmaking with corn husks and pumpkins or creating artistic Thanksgiving snacks. Sign your child up for morning or afternoon sessions. To enroll in both sessions, register for the "lunch bunch."" Admission is $34 per session for members and $54 for non-members. Lunch bunch is an additional $5 per day. Check the website for times and dates – or pick up a brochure at the museum.

The museum will be closed for Thanksgiving – starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The museum will reopen at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.
