With new and exciting additions including entertainment at The Woodlands Waterway Square and more, The Woodlands, Tx residents should get ready to paint and color the town at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place Saturday, April 10 - Sunday, April 11, from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
New to the 2010 festival are special art and live entertainment at Waterway Square as well as free activities on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
One of the highlights of this new venue is sidewalk art including eight highly-skilled artists from the Houston, Tx area who are set to create masterpieces on the sidewalks at The Woodlands Waterway Square using pastels.
This area also includes face painting, food by Hubbell and Hudson, beverages and live music and entertainment, adding to the festival ambiance.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the best of show award takes place on the Waterway Square stage, followed by a performance by Aqua Drums.
Another special feature of the festival, Artopoly, is a hands-on, interactive workshop that encourages children and their families to discover artists, techniques and materials.
This year, Artopoly includes a range of projects for children of all ages.
Children can paint on a mini canvas, create horse puppets on a stick, make a shaker bottle rain stick and more.
Also, children have the chance to enjoy a photo booth, face painting and hair painting.
Artopoly includes artist demonstrations, including a Live Equine Painting Demo by Lesley Humphrey, basket weaving, portrait and still life painting groups, ceramics and jewelry making as well.
Including one of The Woodlands sculptures, ""On the Shoulders of Giants,"" adults can sit down with instructors and create their own 16""x20"" painting.
The Woodlands Waterway is located in The Woodlands, near amazing subdivisions such as East Shore and Grogan's Forest.
