An upcoming concert event in The Woodlands will give area residents a chance to enjoy some great live music and benefit Texas veterans in need of a helping hand.
The third annual Texas Music Throwdown begins at 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at Rob Fleming Park, located at 6055 Creekside Forest Drive in the Village of Creekside Park in The Woodlands. Reckless Kelly headlines the show, with performances by the Josh Ward Band, Jarrod Birmingham and Jesse Raub Jr.
All of the money raised will go to Heroes on the Water, a group dedicated to helping wounded veterans and their families. Founded in 2007 by retired U.S. Air Force pilot Jim Dolan, Heroes on the Water has evolved into a nationally recognized nonprofit group that gets wounded vets out in nature to learn skills and personal fulfillment through a variety of recreational techniques.
Admission to Texas Music Throwdown is $10 at the gate, but $8 advance tickets are available online at www.texasmusicthrowdown.com. Children 10 and under are admitted free.
Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, but no coolers or outside food or beverages will be allowed. Beer, non-alcoholic beverages and food will be available for purchase on site. Gates open at 3 p.m. followed by the National Anthem at 3:50 p.m. Jesse Raub Jr. takes the stage at 4 p.m.
