THE WOODLANDS, TX - Brazilian pianist Alexandre Dietrich is taking the stage at Lone Star College-Montgomery in The Woodlands to offer the community both a lecture and piano recital entitled ""Brazilian Night,"" on Monday, November 19, in the Recital Hall, located in the college's Music Hall (Building H).
His lecture, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a brief film, will illustrate the history of music in Brazil, starting with the arrival of the country's first Portuguese family. The piano recital will follow at 7:30 p.m. Dietrich will perform music by Brazilian composers Villa Lobos, Camargo Guarnieri, Francisco Mignone, Claudio Santoro, and Ernesto Nazareth. Both events are free to the community.
Dietrich has participated as a guest artist at the ""Brazilian Festival"" held by the University of New Orleans and also performed a solo recital at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) by invitation of the Brazilian Consulate in the U.S. and UCLA.
