Children, ages 7 – 12, (as of 12-31-13) are eligible to register and experience the fun and excitement of triathlon. It's a morning of friendly competition and physical activity that can lead to a lifetime of fitness. This is the 4th race in the Kiwanis Kids Series 2013. All races are sanctioned by USA Triathlon.

Triathlon is an exciting sport for young children because it involves three activities that every child enjoys – swimming, cycling and running. Triathlon is an individual event with segments running consecutively until all three elements are completed.

The 2013 event will feature chip timing for faster and more accurate finish line results. The event features 5 age divisions: 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 – 12 years. Boys and girls will compete separately in their age groups. All finishers will receive a medal at the conclusion of their race. The top 3 finishers, male and female, in each age group will receive a special award.

Distances will vary per age group. Children ages 7 – 9 years will swim 50 meters, cycle for 1 mile and run ¼ mile. Children, ages 10 – 12 will swim 100 meters, cycle for 2 miles and run ½ mile. All participants must provide their own bike. Helmets must be worn for the bike course and shoes must be worn for the bike and run courses.

Online registration, available at the Houston Kiwanis webpage, ends 11:59 p.m. on July 25. All participants must be members of the USA Triathlon. Triathlon entry fee is $25 per child which includes a t-shirt and goodie bag.

Race Day morning registration will be available beginning at 5:45 a.m. Registration fee is $30 on race day morning. You must show proof of USA Triathlon Membership for race day morning registration.
