THE WOODLANDS, TX - Sixteen members of the upcoming John Cooper Middle School Drama production of "Lord of the Flies,"" to be performed February 8 and 9, prepared for their parts by attending a Saturday workshop with professional fight choreographer and stuntman Phil Aslaksen.
""Lord of the Flies"" is a physically demanding show,"" said Director and Performing Arts faculty member Alea Figueroa-Yoho.
""I asked Mr. Aslaksen to teach spear safety and basic moves to the entire cast,"" Figueroa-Yoho explained. ""He then choreographed the climactic fight that takes place between two of the cast members. I cannot wait for audiences to be amazed by the amount of work these students have put in for this production and the stage combat that was taught at this workshop and adds a new element that will be very entertaining for audiences.""
Tickets to this 8th Grade Drama production are $5 for general admission and are now on sale online. The performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the John Cooper School Performing Arts Center, located in the village of Indian Springs.
