THE WOODLANDS, TX - Growth of hotels in The Woodlands continues with a million dollar renovation at the Hilton Garden Inn in The Woodlands Town Center and a new Hyatt Place hotel under construction at the village of Grogan's Mill.
New Horizons Hospitality Inc., which owns both properties, is working to fill a demand for both meeting rooms and hotel rooms, said Aly Valiani, vice president of the company.
The company is renovating all of its 117 rooms at The Hilton Garden Inn, built in 2004.
In addition, it is renovating all public spaces at the hotel, including the lobby, restaurant and meeting rooms. The hotel will also have a new outdoor terrace area for lunches and dinners. Renovations will be complete by the end of February, Valiani said.
The company is working to meet that demand at the new Hyatt Place. It is adding 4,500 square feet of banquet and meeting space. Typically Hyatt Place's have only about 1,000 square feet of meeting space, he said.
There are a dozen hotels in The Woodlands, but with the population growing and the number of employees and new businesses rapidly expanding, the need for hotels is growing.
A new hotel is planned for The Woodlands Waterway, said Susan Vreeland-Wendt, director of marketing at The Woodlands Development Co.
