THE WOODLANDS, TX The 2nd Annual Habitat for Humanity Road Rally took to the streets of Montgomery County to raise money for their next project. This year twenty-four teams participated in the event for a myriad of prizes and bragging rights.
The Willbillies, consisting of Larry Chaney, Butch Juelg, Valarie Iltis, and Nishae Brooks, won on points as determined by panel of judges from the community. The team represented Lone Star College Montgomery and the Chaney CPA firm.
The Golf Guys, a foursome who play golf regularly, came in second, underscoring the significance of working with a cohesive team. Also of note...the IWowWe Road Warriors, who best exemplified the spirit of the event in their 'Road Warrior' garb. IWowWe.com and Woodforest Development were both majors sponsors of this event.
The prizes were donated by area businesses and merchants that were presented by emcee, Dana Tyson, of the Sunny 99.1 FM morning broadcast.
The funds raised by registration fees and sponsorships, will help fund the Habitat for Humanity's upcoming Women Build project, an 1,100 sq. ft. house that will be built primarily by women.
The Road Rally and other annual fundraisers help Habitat for Humanity to raise the necessary funds to build future projects, while working together on a home provides a team-building opportunity for area businesses.
The next fundraising event will be their ""Home for the Holidays"" annual luncheon on November 7, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.
