A Public Official Information Briefing briefing on Swine Influenza now H1N1, took place yesterday, Thursday, April 30th, 2009, at The Woodlands Emergency Training Center, hosted by Oak Ridge North and Shenandoah cities in conjunction with The Woodlands Township.
The Community Associations of The Woodlands and The Woodlands Township encourage all citizens to maintain safety precautions (frequent hand washing and limiting personal contact) staying home and contacting your personal physician in the presence of flu like symptoms.
The brifeing included a Pandemic Flu 2009 Presentation by Allen Johnson, CEO of The Montgomery County Hospital District encouraging people to stay updated on information by visiting both local and national Web sites.
A press release by Montgomery County Judge urged residents to avoid over reacting without neglecting an adequate preparation summoning all to aid officials in the prevention of disease by the observance of healthy habits.
The document reports on the existence of three confirmed cases in the Houston Area and twenty six cases across Texas.
Other speakers at the meeting included Fire Chief Alan B. Benson and UTMB Public Health Preparedness Director Emily Llinas.Among those attending, were representatives from Montgomery County United Way, Conroe Independent School District, local hospitals, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the hosting agencies and others.
