H-E-B, a San Antonio-based grocer just bought 15 acres in The Woodlands for its third store. The location will be at FM 1488 and Kuykendahl Road in The Village of Alden Bridge. H-E-B doesn't have an opening date just yet.

H-E-B is also planning to launch a concept store called Joe V's Smart Shop. Joe V's will be a ""no-frills"" grocery store that will compete with Wal-Mart and other discounter stores.

Farther in town, the company is moving forward on a Wilshire Village contract it put under contract at least a month ago in Montrose.

The grocer is still under contract to buy the land however the purchase has sparked some protests by neighborhood activists who would rather see the property become a park.

H-E-B has also met with officials from the Lancaster Place and Winlow Place associations regarding the property. They also hope to meet with the group of protesters in the next week or two.
