Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, The Woodlands Rotary Club will present its 1st annual Oktoberfest, in Town Green Park by The Woodlands Waterway, next to The Cynthia Woods Pavilion.

All profits will go straight to 501 c(3) group, The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation, raising funds for student scholarships benefitting local students and their families. More than 30 business leaders from within the area, who are members of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, are working together in an attempt to make Oktoberfest 2009 the most successful event The Woodlands has hosted. The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, and other governmental and civic agencies will support them in doing so.

The Woodlands Rotary Club 2009 president and Oktoberfest chairperson, Bob Schucker, says ""The success of the Tomball German Festival held in late March highlights the attractive nature and spirit of the German heritage in our area. Our Oktoberfest will exemplify the true spirit of the traditional fall harvest festivals in Germany. There will be something fun to do for all ages.""
