Something is always happening in The Woodlands Tx. From festivals to real estate development, the area is growing steadily. Here are a few developments to watch for this year.
KoiGarden
Koi Garden is an Asian-inspired garden and koi pond to be created on and around two existing, teardrop-shaped islands in The Woodlands Waterway. It will soon be another significant attraction in The Woodlands Town Center. The main island near Two Waterway Lofts is one-half acre. A pedestrian walkway with three new pedestrian bridges connects the islands to the mainland along the southern edge of The Waterway. Two additional bridges along the garden will provide scenic connectors between the land and water elements upon completion of the project. When the Koi Garden is finished, construction will begin on a pedestrian corridor linking it to Waterway Court and Timberlock Place. That phase of the project and the opening of the garden to the public is planned for early spring 2008.
Six Pines
Construction began July 23 on Six Pines Drive at the entries to Market Street and The Woodlands Mall to create a decorative, pedestrian-friendly pathway between the two shopping and entertainment destinations. Decorative pavers will be installed across Sox Pines Drive connecting the entries of both shopping areas.
Cooking Class
It's time to start improving cooking skills at Williams-Sonoma at the Woodlands Mall.
The retailer is offering a series of free technique classes designed to teach or enhance cooking skills. Classes are 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, and cost is $40 per person. For more information, call 281-298-6915.
New Stores
Market Street will add eight new retailers to its tenant mix in the next several months, beginning with the November opening of the men's and women's outdoor clothing retailer, Eddie Bauer.
Eddie Bauer will join Bath and Body Works, GapKids, babyGap, J. Jill, Right Start, Lululemon Athletica and Sweet and Sassy, as the latest newcomers to the regional shopping and entertainment destination.
Another Market Street newcomer, The Right Start, is the largest national specialty retailer of products for infants and young children. Lulumelon Athletica, a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company, will open its second Houston-area store at Market Street. Also scheduled to open is Sweet and Sassy, a children's salon designed for girls offering spa services, up-dos, mini manicures, pedicures and birthday parties. Pint-sized party-goers can even take a stroll down a runaway right in the store.
