THE WOODLANDS, TX - Good news for The Woodlands residents. After the Township's meeting this past Wednesday, an Economic Development Agreement was approved, which will grant $2.3 million plus interest, which will be funded with sales tax receipts created by the business, to the Costco Wholesale Corporation to build the first Costco in The Woodlands.
Costco will fund the land purchase, site development and construction costs. This new Costco in The Woodlands will be located on the northeast corner of I-45N and SH 242; across the freeway from WalMart. This $30 million project will span approximately 150,000 square feet, providing both retail sales and warehouse space.
Costco's pastries, cookies, and breads, are baked in-store, not shipped in. Their produce section boasts of a large organic selection, and Consumer Reports consistently rates their baked goods and fresh meats, as higher than any of their competition.
Costco in The Woodlands will not only provide residents of the master-planned community with a wide array of products, but will provide 75 new jobs for the community. The new retail store is planned to open around November of this year, just in time for the holiday-buying season.
This new retail store joins other businesses that have come or are coming to The Woodlands, such as Nordstrom, which will open its doors on September in The Woodlands Mall.
