THE WOODLANDS, TX - Arbor Day in Creekside Park The Woodlands is all about planting and promoting trees - but for children in The Woodlands, the cause to celebrate is a special pine cone that calls The Woodlands home.
Puffy Pine Cone is not just any coniferous fruit. Puffy fell off a big tree in the Enchanted Forest and was magically transported to The Woodlands, according to The Woodlands Development Co. The 6-foot, 7-inch mascot of The Woodlands is forever 6 years old.
For the 37th annual Arbor Day Celebration on Jan. 19, also known as ""I Love Puffy Day,"" The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Woodlands Development Co. and the Brickman Group are going all out, the development company's marketing manager Lorrie Parise explained.
The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Rob Fleming Park, located at 6055 Creekside Forest Drive, Creekside Park The Woodlands.
Free birthday cupcakes will be served at 1 p.m. and Puffy will be around to visit over dessert, bringing some of his mascot friends along, including Bridgeland Bill, the mascot of Bridgeland, a master-planned community in Cypress. Children are invited to enjoy free giant inflatable rides, climb up rock walls, go for pony rides, check out the petting zoo and get their faces painted. Musical entertainment will be provided by local youths.
The event will feature a Puffy Pine Cone look-a-like contest. Whoever dresses like Puffy will receive a free sandwich, chips and a drink at the event.
