THE WOODLANDS, TX- The Woodlands is clearing the path for speed demons in sneakers. The seventh annual Memorial Hermann ""10 for Texas"" 10-mile race is scheduled for Saturday.

The day begins at 7 a.m. with the fifth annual One 4 Texas Kids' Fun Run. The 10-mile adult race starts next at 7:30 a.m. Both races end with a celebration - complete with live entertainment.

There are 2,500 racers who signed up for the 10-mile race, and 250 kids registered for the fun run.

This USA Track and Field certified 10-mile race winds through The Woodlands, beginning and ending at the Market Street shopping center.

Runners will start down Lake Woodlands, take a right on Six Pines and another right on Lake Robbins.

They will then follow the course to the left on Grogan's Mill, down Woodlands Parkway, right on Cochran's Crossing and right on Lake Woodlands.

Interspersed in the scenery will be hydration stations - at miles two, four, six and nine.

There will also be a cheer-zone competition, a new feature this year.

Corporations, organizations and individuals can compete to see who encourages the runners most.

Most of the participants who have signed up are from The Woodlands or Spring, but the race also draws residents from Houston and other parts of the state.
Some come from other states to compete.

The after-race party will feature food and live music by the Texas Renegade Band.

Winners in both child and adult divisions will also be awarded their medals.

Parents are invited to run alongside their kids in the fun run.
