Construction at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital in The Woodlands, Tx is moving along with crews working on the fifth floor of a new seven-story tower.
Randy Reid, CFO for Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, stated ""The structure will be shelled in sometime around December. Then we will be working inside.""
A year ago, the hospital began construction on the 240,000-square-foot, $80 million expansion.
The new tower is scheduled to feature the addition of eight surgical suites, bringing the campus total to 21 suites, expanded pre-op, recovery and waiting areas, cosmetic upgrade to existing surgical suites, new central sterile processing and mechanical room, new MRI and the expansion of the outpatient Star Lobby, including pre-admit, admission, and radiology areas.
He added, ""It's about expanding our surgical capabilities and expanding our capacity.""
Reid stated that the hospital does not have the space to build out at this point, which is why the hospital is building the tower.
He stated, ""It gives us expansion room for the future. The space will allow us to expand quickly as the market demands.""
By late 2012, construction is expected to be finished.
In the past decade, this is the third major expansion project by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands.
The hospital completed a six-story patient tower in 2003, and a third medical office building opened in 2005.
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital is located in The Woodlands by wonderful communities like Grogan's Mill and Harper's Landing.
