Destined to be a leading Houston golf community, Woodforest is built around Woodforest Golf Club, a 27-hole championship course designed by PGA powerhouse Steve Elkington. Woodforest Golf Club quickly gained accolades through local and national reviews, ranked by the Houston Chronicle Golf Guide 2002 as Best New Course in Houston and listed among the Top 10 Best Public Par 5's in Houston for its No. 13 hole by the Chronicle's Golf Guide 2003. It was also voted a "must play" in Golf Magazine's May 2002 issue. Still considered locally as one of Montgomery County's best courses, Woodforest Golf Club continues to garner accolades, and was nominated as one of the state's top 10 golf courses for 2008 by Golf Digest.

Following the popularity of Houston's area hiking trails, miles of hike-and-bike trails will meander through forested reserves within Woodforest, connecting neighborhoods and major amenities. Approximately 700 acres are dedicated to parks, open spaces and recreation areas, as well as various sports fields. Phase I development includes two lake parks, accented with environmentally sensitive edging, aquatic landscaping, benches and trails. Our first neighborhood park, Monarch Park, is now open for play! Monarch Park is a butterfly-themed park and playground offering fun for the whole family. Developers are making a concerted effort to preserve the surrounding forest that defines this master-planned community, with special measures taken in the design of streets, homesites and recreation areas. Roadways will have at least a 30-foot forested barrier, while major roads such as Fish Creek Thoroughfare will have 40- to 50-foot buffers. No homesites will abut roads and efforts are being made for many of the homesites to be naturally wooded in the front and back. Amenities will be carefully placed within the forest setting, again connected by trails.
