A Unique Opportunity in Education - The University Center is a partnership of six universities, the Lone Star College System and the private sector. Its mission is to provide bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and continuing studies to the more than 1.7 million people in the college district service area. The partner universities offer junior - and senior-level and graduate courses for bachelor's and master's degrees at The University Center (TUC). The five LSCS colleges (North Harris, Kingwood, Tomball, Montgomery and Cy-Fair) offer the freshman and sophomore courses. In addition to LSCS, TUC partners include Prairie View A&M University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, and University of Houston-Downtown.

To enroll in any course offered through The University Center, a student must first meet the admission requirements and be admitted to one of the six partner universities.

Since programs are non-duplicated, a student applies to the university offering the program in which the student is seeking to complete a degree.

This would be the student's "home" university. Undergraduate students, those seeking a bachelor's degree, should have already earned a associate's degree or completed a substantial number of college academic credit hours before beginning the transfer admission process. Graduate students, those seeking a master's or professional degree, must have earned an approved bachelor's degree, at minimum, before considering admission. Non-degree seeking students desiring to take courses must be admitted to the specific university(ies) offering the course(s) through TUC.
