Already more than a year of construction the Sue Park Broadway Elementary School has opened its doors to approximately 350 students on Aug. 27. The 113,560 square foot school will serve grades pre-kindergarten to fourth, and is designed to accommodate 1,000 students. About 270 more students will enter the school each year; students who attend Broadway, which is in the Spring Trails subdivision, live southeast of Riley Fuzzel Road.

Broadway Elementary is named after Sue Park Broadway. Sue Park Broadway is a retired CISD educator who began her work in the district as a parent volunteer at Ford Elementary school. Broadway was hired as a second-grade teacher at Ford Elementary in 1980 and went on to serve an assistant principal at the school. She transferred to Houser Elementary and served as its principal before she retired in 2003 after 25 years as an educator. Broadway is on of four schools recently constructed to accommodate the district's growth.

By fall 2008, CISD plans to open an intermediate school on FM 3083, and an intermediate and junior high school, both in the Spring Trails subdivision on Waterbend Cove. The enrollment in CISD increases each year at an average of 2,500 students. CISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state with a projected enrollment of 53,000 students by the year 2015.
