The Woodlands has a New Sales Tax

Beginning on April 1 of 2008, The Woodlands has a new sales tax rate. This has come about because of a new governance structure in this community. Businesses located within The Woodlands Township's boundaries like Harris and Montgomery counties will be charging one percent local taxes and use tax in addition to the 6.25% sales tax assesses by Texas State. Apart from this new change, an additional 1% tax will be collected in Montgomery County for the new The Woodlands Township Economic Development Zone.

The total sales tax for businesses in The Woodlands Texas will be 8.25% and any additional sales tax that is collected will be to fund fire protection services for The Woodlands.

This new increase in sales tax makes The Woodlands comparable to surrounding cities like Shenandoah, Conroe, Oak Ridge North and Houston. If any business or taxpayer needs help in understanding this new rate change, there is a tax rate map available at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov
